New vaccination status requirements come into effect from 17th December 2021

In accordance with the Queensland Health Public Health and Social Measures Directive only fully vaccinated members of the public will be permitted at Valley Plastic Surgery clinics from 17th December. As a healthcare provider, Valley Plastic Surgery has a duty of care to protect both the public and our staff, particularly those at high risk of more serious illness, or who are unable to be vaccinated themselves due to medical reasons.

What are the new requirements for attending a Valley Plastic Surgery clinic?

All persons over the age of 16 will be required to provide proof of vaccination upon arrival at our Fortitude Valley practice as of 7am Friday 17th December. The easiest way to do this is to link your vaccination certificate or medical exemption to the Check In QLD app. If you do not have a smart phone, you will need to bring a hard copy of your vaccination certificate.

You will still be required to check in upon arrival each time you attend the clinic and staff will ask to see this before checking you in.

What if I am unable to get vaccinated due to medical reasons?

Please advise clinical staff of your exception status prior to your appointment. Patients with a medical exemption may still be permitted to attend the clinic. Each exception will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. You will be required to provide a copy of your exception documentation from your healthcare provider prior to any appointments so as we can complete a risk assessment.

What if I am unvaccinated?

No unvaccinated persons will be able to attend the Valley Plastic Surgery practice. Valley Plastic Surgery is a private medical facility and does not have the capacity to safely accommodate unvaccinated patients.

If you are unvaccinated and require medical care, please contact your GP to arrange a referral to your closest public hospital facility. Queensland Health hospitals have the systems in place to provide medical care for all patients and have advised that they will accept unvaccinated patients should medical attention be required.

What if I have surgery booked?

Each hospital facility has its own COVID-19 policy, and we suggest that patients contact the hospital directly for the latest advice. There may be circumstances where surgery needs to be postponed and our staff will accommodate this for you as best they can.

What If I have had surgery in the past 6 weeks?

We have a duty of care to provide appropriate post-operative care to all our surgical patients. If you have undergone surgery with one of our specialists in the past 6 weeks, we will continue to manage your post-operative care.

  • All vaccinated patients will be able to attend post-operative appointments as scheduled.
  • Unvaccinated patients will be converted to telehealth appointments. If in-person care is required, as deemed necessary by your specialist, arrangements will be made by clinical staff in accordance with our COVID-19 policy.

All VPS staff are fully vaccinated and will be required to wear a mask when they are unable to maintain 1.5m of social distance.

As always, the safety of our staff and patients is paramount and we will continue to take steps including full compliance with QLD Government Directives to ensure this.

This is an evolving situation, and we appreciate your understanding and patience during these unprecedented times.
